Why I Love Writing in Ashford Falls

Coffeecup surrounded by reasons to love Ashford Falls.

Some writers build fantasy worlds with dragons or distant planets. I built Ashford Falls—a small town full of coffee, cupcakes, a town square with a fountain, and more than a few second chances.

Ashford Falls isn’t based on a single real-life town, but it pulls little pieces from everywhere I’ve lived and loved: tree-lined streets, cozy storefronts, local gossip, and the kind of charm that makes you want to stay awhile. Although geographically, it’s located about where the real Leesburg, Virginia, sits. It’s become the heart of my fictional universe, tying together series like Cupid’s Coffeeshop and the upcoming Cupid’s Sweet Shoppe, as well as my newsletter exclusive FREE READ, Love Letters to Cupid. Cupid hangs out a lot in Ashford Falls.

Here’s what I love most about writing stories set in Ashford Falls:

  • The sense of community—where everyone knows your name (and your coffee order)

  • The feeling that love is always possible, no matter your past

  • The characters who pop up from one series to another, creating a living, breathing world

Ashford Falls is where cinnamon roll heroes, fierce but kind heroines, and small-town magic meet. And it’s the kind of place I hope you’ll want to return to again and again.

If you’re new to town, I recommend starting with Cupid’s Coffeeshop. And if you’ve already visited? Come back soon—there’s so much more to see.

Have a favorite fictional small town? Tell me about it in the comments or tag me on Instagram—I’m always looking for more cozy places to escape to.
