Why I Write Sweet Love Stories—and What Makes Them Magic

Text with Writing Sweet Romance surrounded by pink and white flowers.

There’s something magical about a kiss that leaves the rest to your imagination.

When I first started writing romance, my stories had more steam (the Always a Bridesmaid series is open door and steamy). And while I’ll always appreciate a well-written spicy scene, over time I found myself drawn to something softer—something sweeter.

Sweet romance isn’t just about what happens behind closed doors. It’s about focusing on connection. It’s the shy glance, the almost-touch, the heart-thumping tension of a first kiss. It’s small-town moments, cinnamon roll heroes, and slow-burning chemistry that feels just as swoony as anything else on the shelf.

And in my world? It’s also cupcakes, cozy cafés, and a little dash of everyday magic.

When I decided to relaunch my Cupid’s Coffeeshop series, I knew it was time for a second chance—not just for the characters, but for the books themselves. I revised each story to bring them into the sweet romance lane: closed-door, low-angst, high-charm. All the same heartfelt stories, now with a little more sugar and a little less spice.

If you’ve been looking for romances that make you smile, sigh, and believe in happily ever afters, I hope you’ll stop by Ashford Falls. The coffee’s hot, the love stories are warm, and Cupid might just be working overtime.
