Writing Christmas in July
Writing Christmas in July
I know it’s 90 degrees out. I know there’s sunscreen in my hair and iced coffee in my cup. And yet I’ve been playing Christmas music all week as I’ve been dreaming of snowy cabins, cozy kisses, and Christmas trees strung with lights.
That’s right—it’s Christmas in July around here.
There’s something irresistibly magical about writing holiday romance in the middle of summer. Maybe it’s the contrast (hot daydreams meet cold weather cuddles), or maybe it’s just that I’m a year-round Christmas enthusiast. Either way, I’ve been putting the final touches on my upcoming holiday novel, Christmas at Starlight Lake, and I can’t wait to share it with you.
Is it strange to be humming "Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas" while nursing a sunburn? Probably. But that’s writer life. I’ve written snowstorms in flip-flops and romantic sleigh rides with a fan blasting beside me. Somehow, the magic still shows up.
Set in a secluded lakeside cabin, this heartwarming story brings together:
A big-city beauty entrepreneur in need of a fresh start
A grumpy, Christmas-skeptical hero with a soft center
A snowy, swoony setting perfect for second chances
I’ll be revealing the cover later this summer (and oh, is it gorgeous), but for now, I just wanted to let you in on the behind-the-scenes glow. Expect cinnamon-sugar chemistry, snowflake wishes, and the kind of cozy romance that’s best enjoyed with fuzzy socks and cocoa or flip-flops and lemonade. Whichever you prefer.
So, whether you celebrate with peppermint bark or popsicles, thanks for spending your summer with me and my holiday-loving heart.
Stay tuned for the cover reveal on August 26!
